About me

I believe that being a leader in anything boils down to the people you have been and are surrounded by. My passion for music comes down to that: people. Choral music is unique because it is so incredibly personal. No voice is exactly the same. As a result, conducting voices needs to come from an intimate, honest place. Empathy and connectivity are my top priorities when making music, and these core values stem from my deep love for connecting with people.

Music has given me so much since I was a child. Whether it was my mother practicing piano in the middle of the night or an understanding nod from a choir member, each moment is a gift. I find that when I improve as a musician, I improve as a person and I don't imagine this is unique to me. I have seen children and teenagers benefit personally from music classes and exposure to musical communities my whole life due to their ability to increase focus, as well as teach understanding and teamwork.

Not only this, but music just sounds great. It's as simple as that. Each person has a different taste and there is beauty in that. Aristotle believed in music's ability to affect emotions, which still rings somewhat true today. On a bad day, I can listen to a song that lines up with my mood and I feel less alone. Or I can listen to an upbeat song and find some hope. Theory and science aside, there's some magic to it, isn't there?

I am grateful to be in a position where my love for music can be shared. My only hope is that I can pass along the inspiration I have built upon throughout my life.

Thank you for taking this journey with me.
